Alfred War CPG was born in 1897 in a small town in Kansas. He was the son of a farmer and a schoolteacher, and he grew up in a close-knit community. Alfred was a bright and curious child, and he loved to learn. He excelled in school, and he was always eager to help others.

When the Great War broke out in 1914, Alfred was just 17 years old. He was too young to enlist, but he was determined to do his part for his country. He joined the Red Cross and served as a volunteer in a local hospital. Alfred worked long hours, and he often went without sleep. He saw the horrors of war firsthand, but he never lost his compassion for others.

In 1917, the United States entered the Great War. Alfred was now old enough to enlist, and he joined the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 32nd Infantry Regiment, and he fought in some of the bloodiest battles of the war. Alfred was a brave and skilled soldier, and he quickly rose through the ranks. He was promoted to sergeant, and he was awarded the Silver Star for his bravery in action.

In October 1918, Alfred's unit was part of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. The offensive was a success, but it came at a great cost. Alfred was severely wounded in the fighting, and he was evacuated to a hospital in France. Alfred spent several months in the hospital, and he underwent multiple surgeries. He was eventually discharged from the Army, but he was never the same.
